Train the Trainer
Train the Trainer:
Digital Accessibility Education That Sticks
Empower Your Team to Lead the Charge In Accessibility
BIT’s Train the Trainer (TTT) program goes beyond checklists and compliance – it’s about building confident, knowledgeable champions of digital accessibility from within your very own organization.
Delivered over an estimated 8 weeks, this program is flexible, hands-on, and tailored to the needs, roles, and tools of your team. This is how sustainable accessibility starts.
What You’ll Learn
Week 1: Foundations
Start by getting everyone on the same page – we’ll cover key disability statistics, theoretical models, and the basics of physical and digital accessibility. Then, we’ll dive into the history and mindset behind accessibility – laying the groundwork for understanding how users perceive digital content, from structure and media to contrast and readability.
Weeks 2–4: Perceivable, Operable, Understandable & Robust Experiences (POUR)
Explore what makes a site accessible for everyone. From keyboard navigation to clear form inputs, learn the ins and outs of WCAG 2.2 POUR.
*Week 5: Automated Testing Tools and/or Assistive Technology and/or Universal Design
Get hands-on with automated testing tools and assistive technology and/or learn to apply the 7 Principles of Universal Design in practical ways.
*Weeks 6–7: Accessibility Audits & Reporting
Master the process of conducting your own audits and documenting your accessibility wins along the way.
*Week 8: Document Accessibility or Remediation Strategies
Make sure the basics are covered – from Word and PowerPoint to Excel, PDFs, and Google Docs. Learn how to implement accessibility fixes without introducing new problems.
